Hiring: Senior Kafka Administrator / Kafka Platform Engineer | Canada | Contract

We're looking for an experienced Senior Kafka Administrator / Kafka Platform Engineer to manage and support enterprise-scale Apache Kafka environments. If you have expertise in Kafka Administration, Performance Tuning, Security, and Automation , we'd love to hear from you!

Location: Toronto, ON(Hybrid 4 Days onsite)

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, and administer Apache Kafka clusters across Development, QA, and Production environments.
- Perform Kafka cluster provisioning, broker configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
- Monitor cluster health, broker performance, replication, partition distribution, and consumer lag.
- Optimize Kafka performance through partition management, replication tuning, and resource optimization.
- Configure and manage Kafka topics, ACLs, quotas, retention policies, and access controls.
- Implement high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and failover strategies.
- Troubleshoot broker failures, replication issues, message delivery problems, and consumer lag.
- Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure scaling based on workload trends.
- Implement Kafka security using SSL/TLS, SASL, Kerberos, OAuth, and ACLs .
- Manage Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and MirrorMaker .




- Automate Kafka administration using Python, Bash, or PowerShell .
- Support Kafka infrastructure deployments through CI/CD pipelines .
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve messaging and streaming issues.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices.
- Participate in production on-call support and incident resolution.
