The company has offices in North America, Europe, and the UAE. Job Overview:

ZenaTech is looking for a Senior Screenwriter to work on multiple feature film scripts for our new studio division, ZenaStudios, working with the creative team in Vancouver, BC. The initial concepts for the films come from company leadership, and this role takes it from there — guiding a team in developing screenplays through to production-ready shooting drafts, and taking creative responsibility for the stories, structures, and character work across films. You will be writing feature-length screenplays, helping other Screenwriters on their projects, and representing the scripts in meetings with producers, directors, and leadership.

You will give notes on drafts from other Screenwriters and be a part of story and script decisions across projects. A strong portfolio with a minimum of 2-3 feature film and TV scripts, with a minimum of one feature film script, is required. This is a full-time, in office role in Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership:

Take the feature film concept provided by leadership and work with leadership to develop it into a full outline and screenplay through to a locked,

production-ready draft.

Develop the story, structure, and character arcs across the films in line with direction from company leadership and carry that vision through each draft of the scripts.

Present outlines and drafts to producers, directors, and senior leadership for feedback and approval.

Manage and guide the development of screenplays, ensuring they’re ready to move into pre-production. Screenwriting:

Write and revise feature-length screenplays across multiple drafts, from outline through to shooting script, incorporating the company's direction at each stage.

Develop a structured narrative with solid character arcs, stakes, and emotional beats.

Write dialogue and scene direction that plays well on camera and holds up under a full feature runtime.

Incorporate notes from producers, directors, and executives across multiple rounds of revision.

Production Collaboration

Work closely with producers and the director to ensure the scripts are shootable within the project's budget and schedule.

Participate in casting, location, and production design discussions as they relate to the script.

Process & Team Coordination:

Manage the writing timeline for the feature film projects, keeping all drafts and revisions on schedule.

Mentor and give constructive script notes to other Screenwriters attached to the project.

Maintain a well-organised archive of drafts, treatments, and notes for ongoing reference. Core Requirements:

5+ years of professional screenwriting experience, including feature film writing credits.

Demonstrated experience heading or holding final creative authority over a feature film script.

Robust command of feature-length narrative structure, character development, and dialogue.

Experience giving and incorporating notes across multiple drafts with producers, directors, or studio executives.

Experience mentoring or leading other writers, with the ability to give clear, constructive script notes.

Outstanding written communication with a sharp eye for story, pacing, and character.

Highly organised with the ability to manage feature script timelines and multiple writers.

Comfortable presenting creative work to producers, directors, and senior stakeholders, and defending creative decisions. Nice to Have:

Produced feature film credit(s), or a screenplay that has been optioned or set up with a producer/studio.

Experience running or participating in a writers' room.

Familiarity with film production workflows, budgeting constraints, and what works on set.

Experience with script coverage, treatments, or pitch decks.

Diploma or degree in Screenwriting, Film, Creative Writing, or a related field.
