Job Title: Trade Settlement Officer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months contract (with possibility of extension/conversion)

Job Summary The successful candidate will support client Securities settlement operations by performing Excel processing and data entry across multiple platforms while ensuring the timely and accurate processing of securities settlement activities. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate discrepancies, perform reconciliations, and support regulatory reporting in a fast-paced operational environment. The individual will work closely with internal partners and clients to resolve settlement-related issues while maintaining compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Support client Securities settlement operations through Excel processing and data entry across multiple systems and platforms.
- Process securities settlements accurately and within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Perform daily reconciliations, projections, reporting, and financial discrepancy investigations.
- Investigate and resolve suspense accounts, clearing outages, unmatched trades, and settlement discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute fails reporting to clients according to established timelines.
- Respond to client and internal partner inquiries promptly and escalate issues when required.
- Perform daily NI24-101 trade matching and provide reporting to clients and management.
- Complete CDS Arrow binds/netting procedures for impacted clients and report unmatched trades for resolution.
- Review international settlement market reports and communicate settlement issues to clients.
- Monitor DTC and CDS pending trade reports and provide status updates to management.
- Access, match,



and affirm DTC trade confirmations using DTC OMGEO TradeSuite functionality.
- Create and process buy-in intents for regulatory short positions as required.
- Utilize standardized procedures for creating, approving, and settling international trades.
- Update settlement statistics, case records, and documentation daily.
- Monitor and maintain shared team email inboxes.
- Maintain organized documentation to support audit requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in cross-training, job shadowing, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support continuous process improvement by identifying operational efficiencies and recommending workflow enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute trade settlement transactions accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.
- Perform financial reconciliations and investigate trade settlement discrepancies.
- Validate transaction data and supporting documentation before processing.
- Escalate operational risks, exceptions, and high-risk activities appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with client policies, AML requirements, regulatory guidelines, and industry standards.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client information.
- Support operational excellence through quality assurance, due diligence, and process adherence.
- Contribute to departmental administration, reporting, and audit preparation.
- Participate in coaching sessions, team meetings, and professional development activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support changing business requirements and shifting schedules.

Must-Have Qualifications





- 5+ years of experience within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel , including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Macros .
- Previous experience performing financial reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets or Trading Operations .
- Hands-on Trade Settlement experience, including CDS and DTC settlement processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
