Job Summary The Shipper is responsible for scheduling drivers to pick up and deliver loads to customers or vendors. The Shipper is responsible for the scheduling, booking and documentation preparation for third party transportation. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; planning, organization and multi-tasking ability, attention to detail, and computer skills.
Duties
- Manage all paperwork including picking slips, packing slips, waybills and verifying and processing the paperwork accordingly
- Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company; this means the Shipper is responsible for combine shipments based on their routes (First Run to Last Run) and vendor pick ups and timeline to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out, rather than sending each order out individually.
- Schedule outbound and inbound pickups and ensure all documentation required for 3rd party transportation is correctly prepared.
- Determine best delivery methods. If there any special needs, the Shipper is responsible for identifying these considerations and helping drivers get the necessary documents they need. Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers.
- Serving customers and managing their orders and picks ups.
- Responsible for walk in counter sales and picking orders as needed.
- Ensure all orders on expediting report is picked and ready to ship or pick up.
- Packing and preparing orders to be ready for shipment or pickup.
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe warehouse environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Minimum 1 year in the warehousing or distribution sector.
- Consistently able to lift 50lbs.
- Previous shipping experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple conflicting priorities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet time sensitive orders.
- Good computer skills and able to use RF Scanners.
- Industry experience and/or product knowledge is an asset.
- Attention to detail required.
- Valid forklift license is an asset.
Job Types: Full time, Permanent Pay: From $21.00 per hour
