Tom’s Place Restaurant, located inside Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston, is looking for a passionate, motivated, and dependable Sous Chef to join our growing team. Under new ownership, we’re investing in our restaurant and have exciting plans for the future. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow their career, help shape the kitchen, and be part of something that’s evolving.

As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain exceptional food quality, and lead by example. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their food, and is excited to contribute new ideas as we continue to improve and expand.

Responsibilities

- Assist the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
- Prepare and cook menu items while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Ensure all food is prepared safely and in accordance with health and food safety regulations.
- Supervise, mentor, and support kitchen staff to create a positive and team-oriented work workplace.
- Help manage inventory, food ordering, and minimize waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen.
- Step into a leadership role when the Head Chef is unavailable.




- Contribute ideas for menu improvements, specials, and kitchen efficiencies as the restaurant continues to grow.

Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a leadership role within a professional kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for delivering outstanding food and guest experiences.
