Title: Systems Testing / QA Specialist – Public Sector Healthcare, Agile/DevOps, Selenium, Git, Azure DevOps, Jira

Position Overview The Systems Testing/QA Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of large-scale IT systems within the Ontario Public Service (OPS). This position is onsite, requiring 7.25 hours per day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at designated OPS office locations. The specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies across multiple environments, including graphical user interface (GUI) and non-GUI systems.

The role demands expertise in Agile and DevOps methodologies, automated testing frameworks, and public-sector healthcare IT systems integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Testing Strategy Development: Provide expert advice on testing strategies, test plans, and selection of appropriate tools. Identify required resources and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Test Planning & Execution: Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems, including integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing. Execute functional and non-functional tests to validate system behavior.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps. Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
- Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, UFT, TestComplete, Postman, or equivalent tools. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous quality assurance.
- Performance Testing: Conduct stress, load, and performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner. Analyze bottlenecks and scalability issues to ensure systems meet expected traffic and data volumes.
- Accessibility Compliance: Ensure systems comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and related regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers,



business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements. Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of test results, coverage, and quality metrics. Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
- Security Testing: Conduct basic security testing and collaborate with specialists for penetration testing. Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components.

General Skills

- Structured Methodologies: Knowledge of structured methodologies for application development, design, and maintenance.
- CASE Tools: Experience using Computer Aided Software Engineering tools and data query tools to aid in test case development.
- Version Control: Skilled in Git and other version control systems to manage test workflows.
- Agile & Waterfall: Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Must-Have Skills
- Public Sector Healthcare: Experience working with federal/provincial healthcare providers and integration of clinical IT systems such as client and provider registries.
- Agile/DevOps: 5+ years of experience implementing and executing test strategies within Agile and DevOps frameworks.
- Automation Tools: Extensive experience with Selenium, SOAP UI, and other automated testing frameworks.
- Defect Tracking: Proficiency in Jira, ClearQuest, and Azure DevOps for defect management.




- CI/CD Integration: Skilled in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git.
- Test Case Development: Expertise in writing and executing test cases, scenarios, and scripts for web applications.
