Position Summary

This position supports workforce development and organizational capacity across the Yellowknife Women's Society. Working under the direction of the Executive Director, this position develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates staff training, professional development, and workforce development initiatives across all YKWS programs.

Working across approximately 90 employees, this position works closely and collaboratively with managers and staff to identify organizational training and workforce development needs, strengthen staff knowledge and skills, improve consistency in service delivery, and build organizational capacity. This position ensures training and workforce development initiatives align with organizational priorities, operational needs, and the training requirements outlined within contribution agreements and funding agreements.

The position works closely with the Human Resources Administrator and Finance Department, as well as community partners, training providers, and other stakeholders to support organizational learning, workforce capacity, and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Workplace Development and Organizational Capacity

- Lead workforce development initiatives that strengthen organizational capacity across all YKWS programs.
- Develop and evaluate organization-wide workforce development strategies and annual training plans.
- Work with managers and staff to identify training needs, workforce gaps, and opportunities to strengthen staff knowledge, skills, leadership capacity, and consistency in service delivery.
- Develop systems, tools, and resources that support organizational learning, knowledge sharing, succession planning, and long-term workforce sustainability.
- Ensure workforce development initiatives align with organizational priorities, contribution agreements, funding requirements, and strategic goals.
- Support organizational change initiatives through education, coaching,



and standardized training resources.

Staff Training and Professional Development

- Coordinate the organization's annual staff training and professional development plan.
- Coordinate mandatory training, orientation, certifications, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Develop training resources, manuals, and standardized tools that support organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinate internal and external facilitators, contractors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and subject matter experts delivering staff training.
- Monitor training participation, certification requirements, renewals, and compliance.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and promote a culture of continuous learning, leadership development, and professional growth.

Organizational Collaboration

- Work collaboratively across all YKWS program sites to ensure workforce development initiatives meet program needs while maintaining organizational consistency.
- Build strong relationships with managers, staff, the Human Resources Administrator, Finance Department, community partners, Indigenous organizations, government departments, and training providers.
- Support managers in implementing recent organizational initiatives, policies, procedures, and operational standards through education, coaching, and staff development.
- Work with Finance to support workforce development budgets, funding opportunities, training expenditures, and reporting requirements.

Funding, Reporting and Administration





- Understand workforce development and training deliverables outlined within contribution agreements and funding agreements.
- Identify funding opportunities that support staff development, organizational learning, and workforce capacity.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of staff training, certifications, and workforce development initiatives.
- Track participation, outcomes, and organizational performance measures.
- Prepare reports, updates, statistics, and summaries for leadership and funders as required.
- Follow organizational policies, confidentiality standards, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Human Services, Leadership, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Experience in workforce development, organizational development, staff training, adult education, project management, or human resources.
- Experience developing and facilitating training, workshops, educational resources, or organizational learning initiatives.
- Experience coordinating organization-wide projects or strategic initiatives.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, standardized practices, or organizational resources is an asset.
- Experience managing budgets and completing narrative and financial reports is an asset.
- Experience working within housing, homelessness, Indigenous organizations, health care, social services, government, or the non-profit sector is an asset.
- Knowledge of contribution agreements, organizational development, trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, adult learning principles, and change management is an asset.
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence is required.
