Role Description The Truck Dispatcher is a full-time, on-site role based in Cobourg, ON. This position is responsible for coordinating and assigning loads to drivers, planning efficient routes, and monitoring trip progress to ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries.

The Truck

Dispatcher communicates regularly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and support secure and compliant operations. Daily tasks include managing dispatch schedules, updating transportation management systems, and responding promptly to changes in customer requirements or road conditions. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, supporting compliance with company policies and regulatory standards, and contributing to continuous improvement in service and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Experience with dispatching, route planning, and coordinating truckloads in a transportation or logistics environment.





Strong knowledge with load boards/load link is considered a major asset.

Strong communication and customer service skills for interacting with drivers, clients, and internal teams.

Solid organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple loads, changing priorities, and tight deadlines.

Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management systems, and basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office).

Knowledge of North American road networks, hours-of-service regulations, and general transportation industry practices.

Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, with attention to safety, compliance, and service quality.

Previous experience in trucking, freight brokerage, or logistics operations is an asset.

High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics or a related field is an advantage.

Willingness to work Monday - Friday with an attention to email/phone calls after hours to help support our dispatch team and customers.
