Quantity Cutting is adding an afternoon shift to our tungsten carbide overlay operation, and we're hiring one capable welder to run it.

This is a one-person shift. You are the afternoon operation — you come in, pick up where days left off, run the overlay work, and shut it down at the end of the night. No crew to lean on and nobody looking over your shoulder. It suits a self-starter who reads the work order, figures out the setup, and gets it done.

The position is temporary, approximately 3 months to start, with a real possibility it becomes ongoing for the right person. SHIFT - Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (midnight) - 40 hours per week - Overtime available

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Apply tungsten carbide overlay to wear parts, ground-engaging tools, and customer components to spec
- Set up, program, and operate collaborative welding robots (cobots) — path teaching, parameter adjustment, troubleshooting
- Perform manual welding, tacking, and fit-up as required
- Load, position, and fixture parts for overlay
- Read and interpret drawings, work orders, and weld procedures
- Log production data, track consumables, and complete shift reports on a computer
- Carry out routine maintenance on welding equipment, wire feeders, and robotic cells
- Run visual quality checks on overlay thickness, coverage, and bead consistency
- Follow working-alone procedures and secure the shop at shift end

WHAT YOU BRING
- Self-starter who can run an entire shift solo and solve problems without waiting for direction
- Proven welding experience (production, fabrication,

or overlay/hardfacing)
- Solid computer skills — equipment interfaces, production data entry, spreadsheets, email
- Ability to read drawings, work orders, and weld procedure specifications
- Physically able to lift and position heavy parts and stay on your feet through the shift
- Strong safety mindset, including working safely without a coworker present
- Dependable attendance — when you're not here, the shift doesn't run

NICE TO HAVE
- Hands-on cobot experience (setup, programming, or operation)
- Journeyman Welder certification or CWB tickets
- Tungsten carbide overlay or hardfacing experience
- Open-arc, flux-cored, or MIG production welding background
- Experience with automated or semi-automated welding cells
- Forklift or overhead crane certification

WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive wage based on experience
- Consistent full-time hours with overtime available
- Training on our overlay process and cobot equipment
- Modern equipment in a clean, well-run shop
- Full autonomy — you run the shift your way once you're up to speed
- Small-company environment where good work gets noticed

Please include a short note on your welding background, any cobot or automated welding experience, and confirm you're comfortable running a shift on your own. Job Type: Full-time, Temporary Contract length: 3 months

Schedule: Monday to Friday, evening shift, overtime

Work Location: In person, Sherwood Park, AB

Pay: $18.96-$45.59 per hour

Perks

- Casual dress
- On-site parking

Work Location: In person
