-S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety or equivalent (annual recert S100A), and
-S185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance
Wolverine Wildland Firefighters are held to rigorous fitness standards as much of the job occurs in the outdoors. Firefighters perform the following duties:
- Responds to wildland fires
- Performs fire mop up duties, including but not limited to, checking for hot-spots, patrolling burned areas, using hand tools, pumps and/or hoses
- Interacts with other agencies in a professional and cooperative manner
- Performs under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion in the face of such handicaps as: smoke, high temperatures and steep terrain
- Provides Level 1 First Aid when needed
- Completes required reports and forms
- Drives fire apparatus to the scene
- Operates two-way radio
- Inspects and cleans equipment and PPE
- Performs daily and weekly maintenance of supplies
- Participates in frequent training sessions to maintain basic wildland firefighting skills,
and to keep up-to-date on any current technical developments in the Fire Service
Requirements:
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Physically fit - must be able to pass annual Fitness Test, moderate
- S 100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety or equivalent (annual re-currency S100A)
- S 185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance
- Available to work on-call for the summer season
- Work well with others
- Be able to travel within BC
- Work and camp in the outdoors
Job Type: Seasonal Pay: $20.00-$32.00 per hour
