Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital – Vice President, Implementation

Toronto, ON / Vancouver, BC

We are pleased to support Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital ("CC&L; PCM"), in the search for a Vice President, Implementation. This is a newly created role that will build and lead CC&L; PCM’s first in-house derivatives-based implementation and trading capability, executing total-portfolio strategies directly rather than relying on external investment affiliates.

This is a rare opportunity to build a trading and implementation desk, owning the firm’s dealer and counterparty relationships as their investment platform continues to grow in scale and complexity.

About Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital

CC&L; PCM is one of Canada’s largest independently owned high-net-worth investment management firms, managing approximately $22 billion in financial assets. The firm has grown rapidly over the last several years, driven by its reputation for delivering consistently strong portfolio performance and its unique product offerings, which include diverse portfolios of institutional-grade assets. CC&L; PCM integrates private and public market asset classes, covering all major categories.

Founded in 1997, CC&L; PCM was established with a vision to provide private clients access to the discipline and expertise typically reserved for institutional pension clients. Today, they serve a wide range of clients, including individuals, families, Indigenous communities, not-for-profits, and charitable foundations, all of whom trust CC&L; PCM to steward their wealth.

The company is known for offering a highly personalized, boutique service experience, led by dedicated Wealth Advisors. CC&L; PCM remains committed to its original entrepreneurial and collaborative culture, ensuring that client success remains the foundation of their success.

About Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group

Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group ("CC&LFG;") is Canada’s largest and fastest growing privately owned asset management firm, providing a broad range of independently managed traditional and alternative investment products and services through a network of 15 affiliates and subsidiaries. CC&LFG;’s affiliates collectively manage more than $225 billion in assets for individuals, advisors, and institutional investors.

CC&LFG; provides its affiliates with shared strategic, operational, and infrastructure support, allowing each investment team to focus on identifying and managing the investment opportunities that create long-term value for clients. The firm is privately owned and takes a long-term view toward building enterprise value, with no intention of going public or selling the business – a distinguishing feature in the Canadian asset management industry.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Vice President, Implementation will design, build, and own implementation of CC&L; PCM's derivatives-based overlay program, while leading the trading, collateral, and counterparty management capabilities that support them. This individual will be the firm's senior implementation specialist, translating the investment insights generated by their Total Portfolio Management team into disciplined, well-controlled execution across an expanding set of derivatives, equities, and custom account mandates.

This is a unique opportunity to build an implementation function and front dealer and prime brokerage relationships on the firm’s behalf. The role carries long-term growth potential for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

Derivatives overlay program

- Manage the extension overlay portfolio, which is run as a single coordinated, levered strategy.
- Execute the portfolio across bank counterparties using the appropriate instruments (total return swaps, futures, etc).
- Manage net exposures, leverage, and tracking error on a daily basis against CC&L; PCM’s existing risk framework.
- Roll and rebalance positions as markets move, and manage the cash and liquidity buffer needed to meet margin obligations.

Counterparty and infrastructure management

- Own the ongoing relationship with bank and dealer counterparties across the ISDA / prime-brokerage agreements.
- Manage and improve CC&L; PCM’s own dealing and trading capability – the workflow, systems, controls,

and counterparty coverage that did not previously exist in-house.
- Manage the front-office side of collateral and margin (monitoring posting and receiving, and margin calls); settlement and back-office mechanics sit with the Investment Resources Group.

Governance, oversight, and team development

- Oversee the integrity of model portfolio implementation across all accounts, including custom account mandates that fall outside CC&L; PCM’s standard models, ensuring trades are executed correctly, discrepancies are followed up on, and cash flows are monitored.
- Serve as a member of CC&L; PCM’s Investment Committee, contributing implementation expertise alongside the firm’s senior investment decision-makers.
- Build and develop a growing implementation team over time, with the opportunity to shape the desk’s structure and a clear path toward adding a second seat as the desk takes shape.
- Communicate implementation mechanics and risk considerations clearly to internal stakeholders and oversight bodies, supporting effective governance of the desk.

Skills and Qualifications

- Hands-on experience implementing multi-asset or total-portfolio strategies using derivatives – not just designing or overseeing them. This is the capability CC&L; PCM does not currently have internally and the single most key qualification.
- Demonstrated experience executing in derivatives (TRS, futures) and managing the associated leverage, collateral, margin and liquidity.
- Direct experience managing bank and dealer counterparty relationships, including ISDA / prime-brokerage arrangements.
- Index / passive equity implementation experience, or clearly transferable cash-equity trading experience.
- The standing and judgement to build a desk from nothing, front counterparty relationships on CC&L; PCM’s behalf, and develop a junior report.
- The ability to translate implementation mechanics into terms the oversight group can absorb – a teaching disposition, not only a trading one.
- Strong executive presence and maturity, with the emotional intelligence to build durable, trust-based relationships.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- CFA designation or progress toward completion is strongly preferred.
