SGS is currently looking for Welding Inspectors for short term contracts in Fort McMurray. Site # 1) Approximatively from Sept 10 – Oct 4 Project: Reformer Pig tail closure weld. Up to 12 hrs shift per day, 6 days on & 1 day off
Site # 2) Approximatively from Sept 8 – Sept 28 Project: Coker & Coker Piping Closure Welds. Up to 12 hrs shift per day, 6 days on & possibly 1 day off (to be discussed)
Scope of work: Responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating weld processes, welding, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related equipment to ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Material verification
Supervision of Dimensional checks
Collection & verification of documentation against ITP
Quality document reviews including WPS / PQR, assessment of quality, and issue reports or recommendations for corrective actions to ensure the safety and structural integrity of welded components
Inspecting welds, reviewing welding procedures, and conducting visual and dimensional inspections
Examining completed welds for size, quality, and conformance to standards. Witness non-destructive testing (NDT) and interpret / verify results. Witness & verify PWHT (if applicable) & pressure testing. Visual inspection on the quality of welding and mechanical projects. Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, including any issues found. Observing welders and preheating procedures
Recording inspection results and any non-conformities
Investigating Non-Conformities i.e. identifying causes and assisting in corrective actions. Ability to communicate effectively with welders, engineers, and other personnel.
Qualifications CWB Level 2 (minimum)
Five to ten (5 - 10) years industrial welding-related inspection experience. Five (5) of these years should be in Turnaround / shutdowns / site work / Quality Assurance / vendor surveillance / shop inspections
Industrial experience in Oil & gas / Power & Utility / Construction / Manufacturing, etc.. Experienced in inspecting welds on various manufactured products eg. pipelines, expansion joints, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and other equipment
Experienced in witnessing NDE test (UT, PT, MT, RT, etc..) and verifying test reports.
Additional details: Type of contract: sub-contractor agreement Pay Rate: $50 / hr. to $55 / hr. (negociable) Per diems: to be discussed Client will provide flights, rental car & hotel or camp
Inspectors would require all of the typical industry training (Confined space, fall pro, CSO, etc) and be subject to drug screening.
