We are seeking a skilled and reliable Wood Fabricator to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, assembling, finishing, and installing custom wood products according to specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working with woodworking machinery, hand tools, and various wood materials while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble wood components accurately.
- Operate woodworking machinery such as table saws, panel saws, CNC routers, edge banders, planers, sanders, and drills.
- Build custom cabinetry, furniture, millwork, doors, fixtures, or other wood products.
- Install hardware, fittings, and accessories as required.
- Sand, stain, paint, laminate, or finish wood products to meet quality standards.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and workmanship.
- Perform repairs or modifications to wood products when necessary.
- Maintain tools, machinery, and workstations in safe working condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate or apprenticeship in Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, Woodworking, or a related trade is an asset.
- 1–3 years of experience in woodworking, cabinet making, furniture manufacturing, or wood fabrication preferred.
Required Skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Skilled in using woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Strong measuring and mathematical skills.
- High attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Knowledge of wood species, materials, laminates, veneers, and finishes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and perform physically demanding work.
- Positive problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing or woodworking shop environment.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks.
- Exposure to wood dust, noise, and machinery.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
