Operate and drive primarily a semi-truck and flat deck trailer to transport goods and materials mainly on local routes and short interurban routes; Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions; Load and unload goods; Receive and relay information to central dispatch; Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption; Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment; Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment, and loading and unloading of cargo; Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo; Address customers' complaints or concerns; Professionalism in customer service Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Maintenance and repair reports, Inspection report (pre-trip, en- route, post-trip), trip reports. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer. Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Transportation/travel experience: Short-haul, Local Work Setting: various locations.
