The Bilingual Claims Counsel/Examiner, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for management of claims within the Specialty Insurance and Casualty departments.
Responsibilities
- Coverage evaluation.
- Drafting coverage letters and other documents in both French and English.
- Setting claim reserves.
- Communicating with insureds, counsel, brokers, and claimants in both French and English.
- Managing litigation and negotiating settlements.
- Authorizing payments as required.
- Acting as a resource for various business units.

Qualifications
- LL.B. or LL.L. from a recognized university (preferred but not required).
- 5-7+ years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance law and/or experience in claims handling.
- Fluently bilingual in French and English.
- Property & Casualty experience is an asset.
- Membership in good standing with the Barreau du Québec (if applicable).
