The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care during surgical procedures.This includes preparing the OR, assisting the surgical team, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.The OR RN works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and other nursing staff.
Description
- Ability to work well under pressure in a rapid-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and protocols.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for surgical patients.
- Prepare the operating room and necessary equipment prior to procedures.
- Act as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse during surgical procedures.
- Monitor the patient’s condition before, during, and after surgery.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Document all aspects of nursing care accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle surgical specimens per facility protocols.
- Advocate for patient safety and well-being at all times.
Education:Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
Licensure:Current and valid RN license.
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS required (CNOR preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of OR or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
