Project Overview: The Bloor-Yonge CapacityImprovements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.
The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.

We currently have an opening in Toronto, ON for a:
Chief Estimator
- Analyze project plans and specifications to develop bid strategies to mitigate risk and ensure a successful bid.
- Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Oversee and prepare when required detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Participate in the post tender/submission process.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the estimating team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Review bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accuracy and completeness of their proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to develop cost-effective solutions at the project implementation stage.
- Research and evaluate subcontractors based on price, quality and service.
- Maintain and update a database of historical cost data to increase accuracy of future estimates.
- Lead, coach, develop and motivate direct reports. Ensure that performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
- Manage team morale ensuring that the project team is working cohesively and address issues in a timely manner.
- Post Secondary Education in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating Heavy Civil projects including Infrastructure and Rail.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methodology.
- Knowledge of construction materials, and labor costs.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multitask.
- Prior experience with coaching and developing staff.
