Keyera’s Northern Allowance is a tiered incentive program based on years of service for employees at the following locations: Grande Prairie Office, Wapiti, Simonette, Gold Creek, South Cheecham, and Fox Creek Terminal.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain steady state and transient hydraulic models for Keyera Pipeline networks.
- Perform steady state and transient analyses using pipeline and facility hydraulic models, presenting results and recommendations.
- Prepare process hydraulics reports and calculation packages.
- Train team members on best practices of steady state and transient software packages.
- Use operational data to forecast risks and assess impacts on pipeline systems.
- Oversee surge mitigation strategies and overpressure protection systems based on transient analyses.
- Ensure compliance with company PPMP and quality control procedures.
- Propose and develop workflow improvements to enhance product accuracy.
- Support new project development and MOC decisions for existing equipment/facilities.
- Identify and recommend improvements to pipeline operating strategies for hydraulic control and capacity.
- Evaluate capacity impacts from integrity assessments on existing pipelines.
- Oversee design of pressure‑control and overpressure protection systems.
- Support day‑to‑day troubleshooting of operational process issues.
- Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, design reviews, and safety incident investigations.
- Build key relationships with project stakeholders including operations, business development, regulatory bodies, and project teams.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process/Chemical or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer in good standing with APEGA.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in pipeline/facility operations and/or engineering.
- Experience in an operations‑focused role with a midstream or pipeline operating company.
- Minimum of 5 years experience developing and running hydraulic transient simulation models.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard transient hydraulic modelling tool: DNV's Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
- Experience with industry‑standard steady state hydraulic modelling tool: Schlumberger Pipesim Steady State Multiphase Flow Simulator.
- Familiarity with design and operation of pressure‑control and overpressure protection for pipeline systems.
- Knowledge of industry best practices for operations in Canada and the US.
- Fundamental understanding of pipeline automation and SCADA systems.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to take accountability for tasks and deliverables and follow them through from start to finish.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Robust organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities independently.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently with internal and external groups, including third‑party engineering firms.
