Build Financial Clarity Across a Growing Group of Companies

Rothenbury Group

Rothenbury Group owns and operates technology-enabled businesses across real estate, property management, brokerage, leasing, maintenance, staffing, media, and other service industries.

We are hiring an experienced Vice President of Finance to strengthen financial reporting, cash-flow visibility, forecasting, controls, documentation, and executive decision support across the group.

This is a senior finance leadership role for someone who can enter a complex, multi-company environment, assess the current state of financial information, identify gaps and risks, establish priorities, and provide management with clear, practical recommendations.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership while coordinating with internal finance staff, accountants, bookkeepers, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, banks, vendors, consultants, and other external partners.

Our Hiring Process

We invite you to share your resume and a brief summary of your senior finance experience. If your background aligns with the role, you will receive an email within 24 to 48 hours of applying with a link to complete a pre-recorded online interview. The interview will help us better understand your finance leadership background, technical capabilities, reporting approach, judgment, and experience working with complex financial information. Selected candidates will then be invited to continue through the next stage of the interview process.

Your Mandate

The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for creating greater visibility, organization, accuracy, and accountability across the group’s financial operations.

You Will Be Expected To

- Assess the condition of financial records, reporting processes, controls, and supporting documentation
- Identify missing information, unexplained balances, inconsistencies, financial risks, process gaps, and priority action items
- Improve cash-flow visibility, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and management reporting
- Build clear reporting structures that help leadership understand performance, obligations, risks, and upcoming decisions
- Strengthen reconciliations, approval processes, internal controls, and finance operating discipline
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams and external financial, legal, tax, banking, and advisory partners
- Provide practical recommendations that support immediate decisions and long-term financial improvement

Key Responsibilities

- Review, organize, analyze, summarize,

and reconcile financial and accounting information across multiple companies
- Review banking, payroll, tax, ownership, investment, corporate, vendor, client, receivable, payable, budgeting, and forecasting records
- Prepare executive summaries, management reports, financial models, dashboards, schedules, trackers, reconciliations, workpapers, and memoranda
- Develop clear reporting on cash position, cash-flow requirements, expenses, receivables, payables, budgets, forecasts, and financial risks
- Identify incomplete records, unexplained transactions, reporting weaknesses, control concerns, and process failures
- Improve finance-related document organization, file structures, naming conventions, supporting records, and document readiness
- Strengthen month-end, reconciliation, and management-reporting processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, financial modelling, and operational finance planning
- Review and improve internal controls, approval workflows, finance policies, and accountability standards
- Coordinate with accountants, bookkeepers, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, banks, vendors, consultants, and other external partners
- Clearly communicate assumptions, limitations, unresolved questions, risks, recommendations, and required next steps
- Support financial clean-up projects, transitions, system changes, special reviews, and other senior finance initiatives
- Provide senior leadership with accurate, timely, and decision-ready financial information

Required Experience And Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, controllership, FP&A;, corporate finance, or senior financial management
- At least 5 years in a senior finance leadership position, such as Vice President of Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, Head of Finance, or an equivalent role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
- A CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, MBA, or comparable senior finance qualification is strongly preferred
- Strong experience reviewing complex financial records, reports, reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, and supporting documentation
- Advanced understanding of financial reporting, cash-flow management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and finance operations
- Experience preparing executive-level reports, dashboards, financial models, trackers, memoranda, and management updates
- Strong ability to identify financial gaps, inconsistencies, control weaknesses, process issues, and business risks
- Experience working with accountants, bookkeepers, tax advisors, legal counsel, lenders, banks, vendors, consultants, and executive stakeholders
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including financial modelling, reconciliations, reporting, and structured data analysis
- Experience using accounting systems and managing information related to banking, payroll, receivables, payables, vendors, clients, budgets, forecasts, and corporate records
- Excellent written communication, documentation,

and presentation skills
- Solid judgment, discretion, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage evolving priorities and provide clear recommendations with limited supervision

Experience That Will Stand Out

Preference May Be Given To Candidates With

- Real estate accounting or finance experience
- Property management accounting experience
- Asset management or development accounting experience
- Experience working in a founder-led, entrepreneurial, or rapidly growing organization

- Experience strengthening reporting, financial controls, documentation, systems, or cash-flow visibility during a period of growth or transition
- Experience combining strategic finance leadership with hands-on financial review and problem-solving

The Leader Who Will Succeed Here

The right person is highly analytical but also practical.

They can review a large volume of financial information, determine what is reliable, identify what is missing, and separate immediate financial risks from lower-priority clean-up work. They are comfortable working with senior management and can explain complex financial matters clearly and directly.

They do not simply identify problems. They organize the work, establish priorities, recommend solutions, and create the reporting and financial discipline required to support better decisions.

They are equally comfortable reviewing detailed reconciliations, preparing executive reporting, coordinating with external advisors, and advising leadership on financial priorities.
