Overview
BLG, Canada’s premier full‑service law firm, seeks an experienced eDiscovery leader to join its national eDiscovery Group. The role involves working with lawyers, analysts, case managers and other professionals to deliver high‑quality, defensible eDiscovery services while building expertise within a leading practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the eDiscovery Analyst Team: allocate work, coach, review quality, train, monitor capacity and contribute to performance discussions.
- Provide senior technical support across the EDRM – identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis and production of electronically stored information.
- Administer RelativityOne workspaces: scripting, permissions, fields, views, layouts, searches, indexes, batches, coding panels, analytics, productions and workspace maintenance.
- Design, execute and validate analytics workflows – email threading, near‑duplicate identification, concept clustering, categorization, structured analytics, TAR/CAL and other AI‑assisted review processes.
- Develop and apply quality‑control protocols for data processing, loading, searching, analytics, privilege protection, confidentiality, privacy, production and deliverables.
- Monitor usage of cloud‑based eDiscovery tools, manage costs, ensure efficient storage, timely archival, database close‑out and defensible data retention; work with vendors for cost‑effective service delivery.
- Collaborate with BLG IT, Information Security, Privacy and other business services teams to ensure platform operation and compliance with technology, security, privacy and data‑governance policies.
- Provide guidance and troubleshooting to the internal eDiscovery team on workflows,
Relativity functionality, analytics, review design and production requirements.
- Partner with eDiscovery leadership to develop best‑practice SOPs, templates, reporting, workflow improvements and recommendations for new or enhanced tools.
Required Qualifications
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum eight (8) years of hands‑on eDiscovery, litigation support, digital evidence management or similar experience, preferably in a law firm, professional services firm or eDiscovery service provider.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring or coordinating analysts, litigation support professionals, vendors or project teams.
- Advanced knowledge of RelativityOne – processing, ingestion, workspace administration, analytics, productions and database maintenance.
- Robust understanding of the EDRM and defensible eDiscovery methodologies (collection, processing, review, analytics, production, privilege protection and data disposition).
- Experience with analytics and machine‑learning strategies, including TAR/CAL, email threading, near‑duplicate detection and review optimization.
- Familiarity with other commonly used ESI processing and review platforms is an asset.
- Relativity Certified Administrator, Relativity Analytics Specialist or similar certification strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft365, Microsoft Office and common enterprise data sources, with familiarity of cloud repositories and emerging generative AI tools.
- Excellent client‑service orientation, judgment, organization, time‑management, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication, collaboration and consultation skills, with the ability to translate legal, technical and operational requirements for diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically and innovatively while delivering practical, repeatable and defensible solutions.
