Our client is a well‑established Canadian organization with a diverse portfolio of operating companies. They are seeking a technically strong General Accountant to join their growing finance team.

This position is ideal for an intermediate accountant who enjoys hands‑on accounting, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and has a passion for improving processes through technology. You'll work closely with the Controller and collaborate with a large finance team while supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance activities, and continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform full‑cycle accounting, including month‑end activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and support monthly and year‑end close processes.
- Assist with indirect tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Maintain and reconcile tax‑related accounts and supporting documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Develop, maintain, and improve complex financial spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Partner with internal departments to improve financial controls and reporting processes.
- Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.




- Ensure documentation and accounting procedures remain accurate and up to date.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

- Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of full‑cycle accounting experience.
- Experience working within a mid‑sized or large organization.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles.
- Experience working in a complex accounting environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Complex formulas
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated accountability, ownership, and a proactive work ethic.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new systems and business processes.

Nice to Have

- Progress toward or completion of a CPA designation.
- Experience supporting audit activities.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- SQL knowledge.
- Experience with ERP or financial reporting systems.
- Exposure to fuel‑industry tax standards or regulatory reporting.
- Competitive salary ($60,000–$75,000)
