Position Overview:
The Account Manager (PR & Digital) is a dynamic, part-time role responsible for leading account strategy and execution across both public relations and digital/social media for Nine Point Agency’s diverse lifestyle client roster.
In this role, you will seamlessly merge traditional PR tactics - such as media pitching, campaign planning, and press kit development - with modern digital execution, including social media management, content strategy, and digital reporting. As an Account Manager, you will serve as a key liaison for clients, guide and support junior team members, and partner with agency leadership to deliver high-impact campaigns across lifestyle, fashion, beauty, real estate, design, food & beverage, wellness, and business sectors.
Reports to: Senior team: VP, SVP or President
Working Conditions: Flexible remote and office work
Hours: Flexible start between 7-10am, approx. 10-15 hours per week with some evening/weekend work required.
Salary: $45-65 per hr, based on experience
Key Accountabilities:
Client & Account Management
- Client Relationship Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts; build long-term trust through proactive, high-touch service and clear communication.
- Meeting & Strategy Management: Lead client meetings, present status reports, and prepare polished workbacks, agendas, and deliverables ahead of all touch points.
- Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipate client needs, ask strategic questions, and recommend proactive solutions to overcome challenges and amplify brand awareness.
- Scope & Capacity Management: Effectively manage account hours within a part-time structure, setting clear boundaries and delegating tasks efficiently to junior staff.
- Account Retention & Organic Growth: Proactively identify opportunities to expand service offerings (e.g., introducing digital/social strategies to PR-focused accounts).
- Strategy Development: Draft and execute client-ready strategic plans, PR calendars, social media playbooks, campaign workbacks, and event briefs in collaboration with account teams.
- Integrated Campaign Execution: Align traditional PR initiatives with overarching digital strategies (when necessary) to ensure cohesive client brand messaging across all channels.
- Performance Workbacks: Maintain and enforce timeline schedules to ensure the agency team consistently meets or exceeds client deadlines.
PR & Media Relations
- Strategic Outreach: Conceptualize, write, and pitch compelling press materials (releases, media advisories, pitches) requiring minimal oversight.
- Media Relationships: Nurture relationships with key regional and national media contacts across lifestyle, fashion, beauty, wellness, food & beverage, news, and business sectors.
- Media Execution & Hosting: Manage outreach, sample/image requests, media press trips, interviews, photo shoots, and on-site activations.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and build strategic alliances, collaborations, and community sponsorship opportunities on behalf of clients.
Influencer Marketing
- Campaign Management: Oversee end-to-end influencer strategies (paid and organic), including identification, outreach, rate negotiation, product seeding, and contract oversight.
- Execution & Reporting: Guide junior team members through mailer execution and ensure comprehensive recaps are delivered to clients promptly.
- Content Planning: Develop and maintain monthly social media content calendars; write engaging, platform-appropriate copy tailored to distinct brand voices across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Meta, and Pinterest.
- Publishing & Scheduling: Oversee the scheduling and posting of organic social media content using scheduling tools (e.g., Later, Meta) for agency and client channels.
- Community Management & Engagement: Monitor native platforms and manage day-to-day audience interactions, responding to DMs, comments, and proactively engaging with relevant accounts, influencers, and community spaces. (as needed)
- Asset Coordination: Coordinate with creative teams, videographers, or junior staff to capture, curate, and format visual assets (e.g., Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels) for social use.
- Paid Digital & Advertising: Manage and optimize paid social tactics, including boosted posts, ad setup, and targeted digital advertising programs, in collaboration with our digital specialist.
- Trend & Platform Monitoring: Track viral social trends, emerging platform features, and audio trends to keep content timely, modern, and engaging.
- Junior Team Guidance: Direct, mentor, and review the daily deliverables of junior team members (Account Leads, Coordinators, and Interns).
- Quality Control: Assume ultimate accountability for the accuracy, tone, and timely delivery of work produced by the junior account team.
- Management Communication: "Manage up" effectively - keeping senior leadership informed on account health, capacity, team performance, and potential issues before they escalat.
- Agency Culture: Active participation in team brainstorms, agency meetings, and team initiatives, modeling professionalism and agency standards.
Business Development & Agency Growth
- Proposal Support: Assist in crafting compelling new business proposals and actively participate in client pitch presentations, as needed.
- Opportunity Identification: Utilize personal and professional networks to identify prospective leads and contribute ideas for business growth.
Reporting, Analytics & Operations
- Integrated Reporting: Oversee monthly, campaign, and year-end reporting, combining traditional PR metrics (reach, placements) with digital KPIs (engagement, click-through rates, traffic).
- Administrative Accuracy: Ensure timely submission of client tracking databases, monthly media logs, expense reports, and administrative tasks.
- Agency Standards: Collaborate with the team to maintain a polished, professional office and showroom environment.
Job Qualifications:
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing,
Journalism, English, or a related discipline.
- OR - Equivalent relevant agency experience (3+ years) will be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements.
Experience
- PR & Agency Experience: 3–5 years of agency experience in public relations, integrated communications, or marketing, including at least 1+ years in an account management, supervisory, or client-facing lead role.
- Industry Network: Established relationships with media contacts, editors, and creators in B.C. and broader North America across lifestyle, fashion, beauty, wellness, food & beverage, hospitality, and business sectors.
- Digital & Social Media: 2+ years of hands-on experience developing social media strategies, creating content calendars, executing organic/paid social campaigns (e.g., Meta Ads), and managing active online communities.
- Influencer Relations: Proven track record of planning and managing both paid and organic influencer collaborations, including outreach, rate negotiations, gifting/mailers, and performance recaps.
- Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience mentoring, guiding, and delegating daily deliverables to junior team members (Account Leads, Coordinators, Interns).
- Software & Tools Proficiency:
- Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Experience with media databases and tracking platforms (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with social scheduling tools (e.g., Later, Sprout Social), Meta Business Suite, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Asana, Monday.com) and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Pages) is a strong asset.
- Strategic Communications: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to draft client-ready press releases, pitch letters, and social media copy requiring minimal editing.
- Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data, solve challenges proactively, and make informed strategic decisions that drive agency and client success.
- Time Management: Outstanding organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize work, delegate effectively, and successfully manage client account hours within a part time schedule .
- Design Aesthetic: Keen eye for design, visual displays, brand alignment, and evolving social media trends.
