The University of Toronto’s Department of French is seeking an Assistant Professor for a full time teaching stream position, starting July 1, 2027. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, especially those from Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities, embodying a commitment to equity and inclusion in education. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching and contribute to our departmental strengths.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality instruction in French language courses
• Develop and enhance curriculum and online teaching materials




• Engage in teaching-related scholarly activities
• Provide mentoring and support for students
• Participate actively in departmental service commitments
Requirements:
• PhD in French Studies or related field
• Proven teaching experience in degree-granting programs
• Native proficiency in French and strong English skills
• Commitment to pedagogical inquiry and innovative teaching
• Interest in cultural studies and contemporary literary themes
Contribute to advancing French education and cultural engagement at one of the world's leading universities.
