Role Overview
As the VP Construction Project Management, you will lead a team of Project Managers within the Real Estate Management Services (REMS) at Colliers. You will provide oversight to all staff and projects across Canada, focusing on managing risk, ensuring projects are timely, and meeting or exceeding budget and financial expectations, including delivering a targeted profit margin and growing revenues. You will also be involved in major projects from an oversight perspective, ensuring project complexities are understood and well managed, while optimizing construction processes, mitigating risks, and driving continuous innovation across projects in support of property management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure processes for project management are consistent across the country, accounting for regional differences
- Champion new initiatives and work across the organization to support consistent implementation in all geographies
- Drive the development and execution of the project management strategy, aligning construction activities with business goals and market conditions
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards, while continuously monitoring and mitigating risks across the project lifecycle
- Foster strong professional relationships with key external stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, and project partners
- Respectfully question the status quo to determine if there are new or better solutions to be considered
- Develop programs and initiatives on a national scale aligned with Colliers’ strategies and clients’ objectives
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize construction processes, drive operational efficiencies,
and reduce project costs without compromising quality
- Ensure teams are aware of and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations
- Provide leadership and mentorship to senior construction managers and teams, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting collaboration and accountability
- Attract, retain, motivate, and inspire a high-performing team and create a succession plan to support future growth
- Demonstrate and act as a role model and influencer of our values and cultural behaviors
- Monitor project performance across the country and prepare regular reports to senior leadership on budget, timeline, risks, and potential issues
- Position REMS Canada as an industry leader by participating in industry events and conferences
- Participate in media publications regarding construction and project management
- Develop national standards, KPIs, guidance, and tools for project management
- Co-develop and implement operational plans and tools to carry out long-term business strategy for the Construction Project Management group
- Support and coach the career development of practitioners assigned to projects in your portfolio
- Understand market conditions across Canada, and assist in the development of regional plans
Qualifications & Requirements
- Significant leadership experience, including managing multiple project teams and contractors across various asset classes (office, retail, industrial, etc.)
- Expertise in construction project management including scheduling, budgeting, risk mitigation, and contract administration
- Deep knowledge of construction best practices, building codes, regulatory compliance, and safety standards
- Proven track record of successful project delivery with expertise in cost management, scheduling,
and contract negotiation
- Able to lead and mentor high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and accountability
- Ability to develop short- to medium-term plans for the service including budgets, forecasts, staffing, technology requirements, and KPIs
- Advisory mindset with an exceptional service orientation
- Ability to manage growth and profitability of the service, aligning delivery with organizational goals, market conditions, and emerging trends
- Master’s degree and/or advanced certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent
Compensation & Location
Area / Location: Ontario
Approximate compensation: Annual salary range $180,000 to $200,000
Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire compensation. Individual pay is determined by work location and factors including job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
