Position Overview
Are you an experienced finance leader who thrives on stepping into organizations, creating clarity, and providing strategic financial leadership during periods of transition?
Our client is seeking an experienced Interim/Fractional Director of Finance to provide executive-level financial leadership while they recruit a permanent Director of Finance. This is an excellent prospect for a seasoned finance professional who enjoys making an immediate impact and partnering with senior leadership to strengthen financial operations and planning.
You must be able to start early August with the engagement expected to continue until the permanent Director of Finance is hired, providing continuity and leadership during this important transition.
Key Responsibilities
As the Fractional Director of Finance, you'll provide strategic and operational finance leadership while supporting day-to-day financial management. Responsibilities may include:
- Partnering with the executive team on financial strategy, planning, and organizational decision-making.
- You will lead the annual budgeting process commencing during this interim period along with forecasting, and the financial planning process.
- Overseeing financial reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Ensuring strong financial controls, governance, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Managing relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and external advisors.
- Providing leadership to the finance team while supporting continuous process improvement.
- Preparing financial reports and presentations for senior leadership, Boards, or Finance & Audit Committees.
- Supporting special projects and organizational initiatives as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline is required.
- A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced business designation would be considered an asset.
Experience
- Significant senior finance leadership experience as a Director of Finance, Controller, VP Finance, CFO, or similar leadership role.
- Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial management.
- Experience working with executive leadership teams and Boards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights.
- A collaborative, hands‑on leadership style with the ability to quickly build credibility and relationships.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance strategic priorities while remaining detail oriented.
