Job Description

Accountable for building, maintaining and evolving the culture and community of Engineers and is responsible for coaching on knowledge, skills and performance, building and evolving their capabilities, and advising engineers on their work to ensure solutions meet business needs and aligned with technology strategies and emerging industry standards; this includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards.

Department Overview

The TD Insurance Digital Sales Team builds and runs the digital services that Canadian customers use to shop and buy personal insurance online. We serve customers by making their banking simpler, faster, and more reliable. Our employees design, build, and support these digital experiences end to end, working closely with partners across the Bank. The team focuses on secure, dependable technology that works at scale and supports millions of business interactions each day.

Key Accountabilities

- Lead end‑to‑end delivery across analysis, design, build, test, release, and support.
- Manage and develop engineering teams, including performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
- Drive agile execution, release planning, dependency management, and delivery risk mitigation.
- Ensure quality, resiliency, security, accessibility, and regulatory compliance are embedded into delivery.
- Oversee CI/CD, DevOps, and release management practices to enable safe, frequent deployments.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Platform teams to deliver integrated digital banking solutions.
- Drive adoption of AI tools across the SDLC to improve developer productivity, quality and speed.
- Act as an escalation point for delivery, operational, and people‑related issues.

Skills & Experience

- Strong people leadership experience in large, complex technology delivery environments.
- Full‑stack engineering background (Angular, Java, APIs/microservices, cloud platforms).
- Experience delivering regulated, customer‑facing digital insurance or banking platforms at scale.
- Experience designing, developing,



and integrating AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications to enhance customer and engineering outcomes.
- Practical experience with DevOps, automated testing, and modern delivery practices.
- Working knowledge of AI‑assisted development and test automation.
- Evaluate and recommend AI/ML tools, frameworks, and patterns aligned to enterprise standards and emerging industry trends.
- Expert knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as organization issues.
- Expert knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, Bank standards, and may fulfill a governance role.
- In depth technical skills and a strong understanding of the team's product.
- Provide people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required.
- Has a deep understanding of the technology and issues.
- Can coordinate work outside own area of expertise.
- Ensures solutions are consistent with departmental objectives.
- Generally reports to a Senior Manager, in some cases to an executive.
