Position overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the financial planning and analysis processes of the company. Our client is seeking an effective organizational and strategic leader. You must possess strong business acumen, visionary and financial acuity with the ability to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
The Financial Controller position is a critical role with direct impact on financial structure. This position requires a high level of autonomy. You will have direct access to leadership and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met for the Canadian and US companies
- Supervise a team of 7-10 in finance
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit
- Document and maintain complete information for all financial transactions
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and petty cash
- Supervise the reconciliation of bank and investment accounts
- Prepare non-consolidated and consolidated monthly statements and implement monthly variance reporting
- Prepare and submit payroll files every two weeks (Canada & US)
- Will also be responsible for all human resource functions
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and in compliance with current legislation
- Maximize income where possible and appropriate
- Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization necessary for effective operations
- Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments
- Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization and all regulations on professional certification to ensure that the organization is compliant
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Financial Accounting or Business Administration
- 8-10 years of progressive financial responsibility
- Previous experience doing accounting for US Companies, including exposure to sales taxes in multiple states and income taxes
- Strong computer proficiency
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Detailed, oriented and analytical
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Proven team management experience
