Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for safely and accurately installing underground water, sewer, and storm systems. Working closely with the excavator operator, the Pipelayer directs trench digging activities and ensures trench depth, slope, and bedding meet required specifications. This role involves setting pipe to line and grade, aligning and joining sections, and preparing for safe and efficient backfilling. Direct the excavator operator while checking trench depth and grade Set up, align, and install water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainpipes Assist with rigging, hoisting, and lowering of pipe, manholes, catch basins, and concrete structures Prepare trench bottoms, place bedding material, and ensure proper support prior to pipe installation Check pipe alignment, grade, and placement to ensure accuracy and quality Assist with rigging and lowering of pipe, vaults, and structures into place Support general labour tasks as needed in the trenching and pipe installation process 5+ years of experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, storm) Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a Driver's Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
