Principal Software Architect

Hypertec seeks a Principal Software Architect to join our Engineering team in Montreal.

Responsibilities

- Define the overall software architecture for Hypertec's HPC & AI Cluster Management Platform in collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Services group to understand market requirements and product priorities.
- Deliver an initial Minimum Viable Product (MVP) while working with technology partners, software vendors, and hardware suppliers to evaluate integration opportunities and emerging technologies.
- Design a modular, scalable, secure, and highly available software architecture capable of managing HPC & AI infrastructure.
- Establish architectural principles, technology standards, software frameworks, and design patterns to support future platform growth.
- Ensure the platform remains extensible with APIs to support evolving hardware technologies, AI workloads, and customer requirements.
- Engage with strategic customers to understand operational workflows, deployment models, and industry-specific challenges.
- Translate customer and market needs into scalable software capabilities while maintaining a common platform architecture.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.




- 10-15 years of experience developing complex enterprise or infrastructure products.
- Experience developing software for HPC & AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, or similar.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, software architecture, and hardware/software integration.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Technical leadership experience in leading and mentoring teams directly.
