Job Description

We are searching for a Laundry Aide to join the Opal Ridge Enhanced Care team based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. If you take pride in being compassionate, honest, professional, and safe, consider an exciting and rewarding career at Shannex.

Key Responsibilities

- Sort laundry into appropriate piles based on type and soiling, selecting proper formulas and cycles for washing and drying.
- Operate washing machine using proper washing formulas; load soiled laundry, set dial, and unload clean laundry.
- Operate dryer and extractor; load clean, wet laundry, set dials for drying, and unload machine.
- Sort clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; count linen needed per area per linen quota and place on cart, note name tags on resident clothing and put on correct rack.
- Pick up soiled laundry and deliver clean laundry to resident areas within the facility using laundry carts.
- Check laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and forward clothing needing repairs.
- Sweep and mop floors in the laundry area and clean sorting tables with disinfectant.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Stand for extended periods of time, read/see documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent education.




- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
- Knowledge of basic garment and linen care.
- Operation of commercial laundry equipment.
- Successful candidates must obtain a explicit Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment.
- First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a retirement living or long‑term care facility is an asset.
