Job Description

What is the opportunity? This is an opportunity to work at RBC Insurance with a group of technology professionals dedicated to delivering solutions to Insurance business and clients. We are all in with Agile development, DevOps, Open Source, Software as a Service (SaaS) and modern tools and processes. You will have an opportunity to make a real difference by working on some impactful and meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

- Technical Leadership: Lead a team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight.
- Collaboration: Partner with Agile project team members, product managers, owners, software engineers, and stakeholders to evaluate, review use cases and align ML initiatives with overall company goals.
- MLOps: Design, build, and deploy scalable machine learning models and algorithms that address business needs, focusing on performance and reliability. Oversee end‑to‑end machine learning pipelines and ensure integration with applications. Collaborate with data engineers to build efficient data collection, preparation, and feature‑engineering pipelines.
- Documentation: Establish standards and processes; maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture, models, pipelines, and development processes.
- Code Quality: Enforce coding best practices, conduct regular reviews to ensure high‑quality code that meets RBC’s coding standards.
- Operations: Build maintainable products, monitor metrics and SLA compliance, and support day‑to‑day operations.
- Emerging Technology: Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning and related technologies, share knowledge, and apply it to improve existing systems and develop recent ones.

Qualifications – Must Have

- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in machine learning development and team leadership.
- Deep knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, testing, and deployment.



Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience in data and AI/ML space.
- Understanding of application implementation requirements, risk, privacy, and compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑functional team collaboration skills.
- Expertise in the applications we support, with strong problem‑solving and production support experience.
- Ability to lead teams, provide clear guidance and timely communication with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of harness engineering concepts to direct and optimize AI systems.

- Experience in context engineering, prompt optimization, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
- Experience with agent frameworks, LLM orchestration platforms, or agent evaluation tools.
- Knowledge of agentic AI governance and responsible AI practices.
