Duties & Responsibilities

Core team member in a cross‑functional technical team leadership role. Responsibilities vary by seniority; growth into the role is expected.

- Interact with product line management during initial program or product definition as part of a brainstorming multi‑function team.
- Coordinate front‑end research programs, including prototypes, evaluation, and reports.
- Act as technical lead for new product development programs: develop and support requirements, specifications, and test plans.
- Create and manage detailed R&D; schedules, provide input to resourcing plans.
- Interact with the Project Manager to support gate reviews, update progress, and address issue escalations.
- Participate in all technical reviews on owned programs; possibly lead reviews in area of expertise.




- Serve as R&D; contact prime for operations during transition from core development to NPI and full factory deployment in low‑cost manufacturing environments.
- Assume technical authority: provide roadmap and architecture input, act as life‑cycle R&D; point of contact for factory ECOs, work instruction change verification, factory escalations, and EOL issues; handle customer technical issues.

Pre‑Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

- Degree in Physics or Engineering Physics; advanced degrees preferred. Degrees in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering considered when combined with optics experience.
- Proven background in product or systems development.
- 5+ years of experience in new product development.
- Experience working with multi‑disciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail—compliance matrices, technical reports.
- Experience presenting technical subject matter to management.

Pay Range: $100,219 to $186,121 (exceptional qualifications, experience, and location may impact salary). Benefits include paid time off, health, life, and disability insurance, 401(k), and a bonus program.
