Managing Director, Facilities Development & Engineering

The Managing Director, Facilities Development & Engineering oversees all planning, design, and construction of campus facilities and lands, ensuring alignment with the institution’s goals, aesthetics, and sustainability standards. The role also influences, supports, and implements the University’s strategic planning, sustainability strategies, and long‑range space plans, and collaborates with leadership to set standards, design principles, and construction delivery.

Responsibilities

- Oversee the planning, design, and construction of campus facilities and lands, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, aesthetics, and sustainability standards.
- Influence and support the University’s strategic planning, sustainability strategies, and long‑range space plans.
- Collaborate with leadership to set design principles and oversee construction delivery.
- Implement and manage major capital projects and complex planning initiatives.

Qualifications

- Seasoned facilities, planning, and capital projects executive with experience leading complex institutional portfolios, preferably within a university, healthcare, research, or large‑scale campus environment, or municipality.
- Strong track record of delivering major capital projects, managing complex planning, design, and construction initiatives, and leading multidisciplinary teams in a regulated environment.




- Strategic thinker with political acumen and sound judgment.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non‑technical audiences, executives, and board members.
- Ability to delegate effectively, develop others, and maintain focus on results and successful outcomes.
