Salary and Bonus
Salary range: CAD 149,600 - 182,800 (35‑hour workweek). Annual bonus target 15% of base with potential payout up to double the target. Employee Share Purchase Plan matches 50% of net shares.
About the role
Manager, Actuarial opening for our PL Insights team.
Work closely with a team to identify opportunities for more data‑driven decisions within the broader Corporate PL family.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality of operational actuarial deliverables, oversee daily activities by planning and dispatching work, promote teamwork / cross‑functional collaboration, and guide the training and development of team members.
- Have impactful influence in the creation and design of data analytics to enable Corp PL’s strategic data‑driven actions.
- Formulate appropriate recommendations after analyzing and interpreting the reports produced by actuarial analysts and technicians to improve the performance of products and services.
- Manage performance reviews, training and coaching for group members in order to meet the company’s strategic objectives.
- Manage your team’s activities by organizing, planning and controlling the optimal use of human, financial and material resources in accordance with company strategies and budget planning.
- Manage the group members responsible for actuarial research and work and provide them with technical advice.
- Represent the Actuarial function on various company task forces and act as the point of contact for other business units.
Qualifications
- University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Sciences; FCAS an asset.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience including at least 2 years in management or coaching.
- Strong skills and knowledge of actuarial techniques.
- Good strategic vision and facilitator of change.
- Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism (French – English) is required due to regular interaction with English‑speaking colleagues across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required; must be eligible to work in Canada.
