Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great chance for a Senior Accountant (6 Months Contract). The successful incumbent will oversee and ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting. Support the Finance Manager with various reporting requirements and the administration of the fiscal period processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Senior Accountant’s major activities and responsibilities include the following. The position is a 6 month contract with possibility of extension.

Hourly Range: $35/hr to $40/hr

Essential Responsibilities

- Support the cash reporting: weekly function
- Complete the month end close process in accordance with corporate timelines
- Compete monthly Financial Statement Reporting Package for Corporate
- Analyze Financial Statements and explain variance to Budget
- Analyze Costs and Margins by part on a monthly basis
- Support the Yearly Budget preparation
- Lead general accounting function, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts, A/R, A/P, recurring journal entries
- Ensure the accuracy of all department processes to the various accounts
- Perform daily review of all revenue streams, costing transactions for accuracy and investigation of discrepancies and unusual transactions
- Manage & reconcile intercompany transactions
- Identify, review and implement process improvement initiatives
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reports
- Support the external audit process and corporate enquiries
- Monthly HST and WSIB reporting




- Be a critical interface with internal manufacturing, contracts, quality and configuration departments as needed
- Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices
- Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

Position Requirements

- University/college degree in business or related field.
- 5 to 10 years work experience in similar position, preferably in manufacturing
- Professional Accounting designation or pursuing.
- Proficient with SAP Cincom, CODA or similar ERP systems
- Strong working knowledge of EXCEL
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, management regulations & compliance
- Training, inspecting work and coaching skills
- Knowledge of spreadsheet & accounting procedures
- Effective interpersonal skills
