Description:

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of diagnostic tests on patient samples to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards in all laboratory processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect, prepare, and analyze biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using manual and automated techniques.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Conduct tests in various departments such as hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology, and transfusion medicine.
- Ensure quality control and accuracy of test results by following established procedures.
- Record and report results to physicians and maintain detailed records of laboratory tests.
- Adhere to infection control, health, and safety policies and protocols.
- Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education activities.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and consult with senior technologists or pathologists as needed.
- Assist in training and orientation of recent staff and students.
