Location: 4 days per week from office in Downtown Toronto (John Street)
Reports to: Senior Director, Transportation
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm; schedule flexibility required during Q4 peak season.
Role overview
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Transportation Network Manager to further support our transportation organization. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of three primary transportation domains:
1. Pick-up and drop offs between our merchants and GoBolt;
2. GoBolt freight moves (B2B, inbound, and/or inventory transfers); and;
3. Routing mid and last mile deliveries.
GoBolt’s goal is to provide a cost-effective transportation solution that maximizes asset utilization, delivers on-time execution, and meets our overarching productivity and merchant expectations. As a core member of our transportation team, you'll be responsible for interfacing with many cross functional partners; including, software development, product management, delivery drivers, dispatch, sales, transportation management, and warehouse personnel.
What you’ll do
- Mid mile leadership:
- Source and develop new mid mile partnerships, while managing existing ones
- Develop cost reduction strategies for our mid mile business
- Optimize and plan mid mile routes in our markets around asset types, arrival times, and other customer expectations
- Support
- Ensure necessary paperwork/digital transmissions are completed so that operations run smoothly with the right information
- Dispatch and routing leadership:
- Ensure all carrier pick-ups, drop-offs, and last-mile deliveries meet critical times and standard work
- Monitor forecasted volumes to ensure sufficient daily delivery capacity and adjust routes if needed
- Track and report on-time performance of carriers, escalating issues to Carrier Managers when necessary
- Monitor and analyze carrier performance,
making necessary adjustments to improve on-time pick-up and delivery.
- Lead and mentor the routing team, promoting continuous improvement and accountability.
- Develop and implement routing strategies to optimize delivery efficiency and align with business goals.
- Analyze routing processes, identify improvement areas, and train team members on routing software.
- Address routing issues, maintain service levels, and provide performance insights to senior management.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table
- 3+ years’ broad experience in Transportation, experience with final mile carriers and routing. 5 years preferred
- Knowledge of proper loading techniques; cubic measurement and space utilization techniques; forms, terminology, and information.
- Solid computer skills and have a valuable working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Hard working with a focus on learning, detail oriented, and passionate about helping small businesses compete online.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and carrier partners.
- Must be versatile and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays as well as extended shift support as required throughout peak season.
