Purpose of the role

The IB/AP Coordinator is responsible for effective leadership, coordination and implementation of the IB Programmes and AP Program at Lynn‑Rose. The coordinator ensures alignment with policies, upholds programme integrity, and works collaboratively with faculty, students and parents to deliver a robust and engaging curriculum experience. As the central liaison between the school and the IB and AP, the Coordinator ensures all administrative and pedagogical requirements are met while fostering a culture of inquiry, international‑mindedness and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Leadership and Programme Oversight – Provide strategic leadership for implementation and development of IB Programmes and AP Program. Lead curriculum reviews, chair faculty meetings, facilitate collaborative planning, support integration of Approaches to Learning (ATL), Learner Profile attributes and international‑mindfulness.
- IB Liaison and Compliance – Act as the main contact with the International Baccalaureate Organisation,



maintain authorisation and re‑evaluation status, ensure compliance with IB standards and practices, register candidates, manage internal assessment, predicted grades and exam entries, and communicate all IB deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Curriculum and Assessment Coordination – Support subject teachers with curriculum planning, assessment design and moderation processes; maintain an up‑to‑date DP Assessment Calendar; oversee internal and external assessments including mocks, orals and the May AP and IB exams; embed and monitor academic honesty; and lead all culminating projects across the IB programmes.
- Core Programme Supervision – Oversee and support TOK and Extended Essay leaders and the CAS Coordinator; monitor timely student progress in the DP Core components; organise core‑specific training sessions and reflection activities.
- Student Support and Guidance – Guide students through subject selection and programme requirements; monitor academic progress, identify students at risk and initiate appropriate interventions; coordinate with college/university guidance to align academic goals with future pathways; support students in developing ATL skills and independent learning strategies.
- Parent and Community Engagement – Communicate the philosophy and structure of the IB to the wider school community; plan and lead IB‑related events such as information sessions,



student/parent evenings and exhibitions; maintain transparency regarding programme expectations, deadlines and assessment policies.
- Professional Development and Staff Support – Identify training needs and coordinate IB/AP‑recognised professional development for staff; mentor current teachers and foster a strong culture of reflective practice; support teachers in aligning practices with IB/AP updates and pedagogical leadership.
- Cross‑Programme Collaboration and Culture – Promote the core components as essential elements of the IB learner profile and ATL; support school‑wide initiatives connected to inquiry, international‑mindfulness and academic integrity.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

- Significant teaching and leadership experience, IB and preferably AP qualifications.
- Demonstrable experience working in a K‑12 educational setting across programmes or divisions.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification highly recommended.
- Experience as an IB Workshop Leader, Examiner or Visitor highly desirable.
