This opportunity is suited to a senior-level mechanical engineering professional with deep expertise in static equipment and a strong background in major capital and complex brownfield projects. The role is focused on providing high-level technical leadership, setting engineering direction, and ensuring quality and compliance across static equipment scopes. This position will support complex technical decision-making, guide multidisciplinary delivery, and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering excellence within the business.

Role Context

This position sits within complex engineering delivery across the energy and process sectors, including Oil & Gas, Energy Transition, Refining, Gas Processing, Hydrogen, and Carbon Capture projects. The role involves technical leadership on large multi-discipline capital projects as well as brownfield scopes, with regular engagement across engineering teams, vendors, fabricators, inspectors, and client stakeholders. The working environment is focused on high-integrity static equipment design, performance, and lifecycle management across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the technical authority for static equipment, providing expert guidance on design, specification, fabrication, installation, and lifecycle management challenges.
- Lead and approve key engineering deliverables including specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations.
- Perform and oversee advanced mechanical design and analysis for pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and associated equipment in line with applicable codes and standards.
- Provide technical governance for static equipment scopes on major projects, ensuring alignment with engineering standards, best practice, and client requirements.




- Review and resolve complex technical issues, deviations, and non-conformances in collaboration with vendors, fabricators, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Support constructability, operability, maintainability, and reliability reviews for static equipment design solutions.
- Lead technical clarification meetings, vendor document reviews, and factory acceptance activities for critical equipment packages.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of static equipment standards, specifications, templates, and work processes.
- Provide mentorship, technical review, and guidance to engineers across varying levels of experience within the mechanical discipline.
- Support scope definition, estimating, staffing input, and early-phase technical contribution for proposals and project development activities.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree would be advantageous.
- Registered Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligibility for registration.
- Extensive mechanical engineering experience with a strong specialism in static equipment engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, air coolers, and associated static equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME, API, CSA, and relevant Canadian and international codes and standards.
- Experience supporting equipment integrity, fitness-for-service, repair, alteration, and remaining life assessments would be beneficial.
- Proven ability to resolve complex, high-risk technical issues and provide sound engineering judgement.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical outcomes across internal and external stakeholders.
- Recognised technical credibility within static equipment engineering.
