Your role
The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.
- Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
- Perform thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
- Provide leadership to team on assigned tasks, ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
- Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensure adherence to company quality program.
- Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineers.
About You
- Engineering degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants.
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plant procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plant engineering activities is an asset.
- Experience in nuclear process system design and layout.
- Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.
- Experience leading/mentoring teams.
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
- Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear‑power‑plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
