Our Real Estate client, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team on a six-month contract. This role has been created to help strengthen financial controls, improve process compliance, and address issues that have been identified across various accounting functions.

While recent processes have already been implemented, they are not being consistently followed. The successful candidate will bring a strong controls and compliance mindset, establish accountability across the finance team, and ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Controller who enjoys improving processes, driving accountability, and leaving an organization in a stronger position.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and reconcile complex accounting issues across multiple accounts.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with established financial policies and procedures.
- Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements where required.
- Monitor adherence to existing processes and hold team members accountable for compliance.




- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Work closely with senior leadership to improve the overall effectiveness of the finance function.
- Assist with audit preparation and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Mentor and guide the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- CPA designation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Finance Leader.
- Strong background in internal controls, process improvement, and financial governance.
- An audit mindset with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Real estate industry experience is considered a strong asset.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence others and hold individuals accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to quickly assess issues and implement solutions.
