Sedgman Novopro Ltd is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Montreal, Quebec. This role involves leading and providing technical support on structural engineering projects, including conducting design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, and preparing technical reports. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team.

Responsibilities

- Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes and industry standards.
- Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
- Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA compliance.
- Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines, including electrical, process and mechanical.
- Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Member of the ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or other applicable engineering body.
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior role.




- Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design, consulting, and operational environments.
- Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired.
- Ability to safely and effectively self‑manage time, priorities and activities.
- Well‑developed communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience with Canadian building codes across the provinces is desirable.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Excellent spoken and written French; robust spoken English skills required for daily contact with clients, suppliers, partners and colleagues outside Quebec.
