Position Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applies the nursing process to support clients, residents and patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people‑centered care approach in a variety of settings, including Acute, Transitional, Personal Care Home (PCH), Primary Care, Oncology/Cancer Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living and Home Care. The LPN works within the full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education and maintains competency in accordance with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, the Code of Ethics, the Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The incumbent exercises appropriate initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, methods and actions to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions consistently with the mission, vision and values of Southern Health‑Santé Sud.

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba and the Code of Ethics.

Ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary workplace that supports quality services, quality improvement and staff empowerment.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

Conflict resolution skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Analytical and inquiring approach to problem‑solving while contributing to program improvement.

Ability to effectively perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.

Proficiency in both official languages for target and designated bilingual positions.

Good work and attendance record.

Certifications and Licensure

Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Acute, Transitional, PCH, Primary Care, Public Health‑Healthy Living, Home Care and Oncology/Cancer Care.

Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with an all‑purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical and Practical Requirements

Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.

No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.

Will be required to work days, evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.

Required to travel to other regional facilities as duties require.
