Position
Coordinator, Patient Care (Acute & Ambulatory Care) – Sechelt Hospital, Sechelt, BC.

Salary range: CAD $49.20 /hr – CAD $63.47 /hr.

Responsibilities

Coordinate patient care activities in a defined area of clinical expertise and lead, supervise, and guide designated staff.

Facilitate efficient patient flow and patient access within and between units, programs, and clinics.

Ensure a high standard of patient care as a clinical resource for staff, support their training and development, and provide leadership and support to the interdisciplinary team.

Assist the Manager with administrative duties, coordinate staffing, scheduling, and clinical research activities, and promote education and research.

Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, the leadership team, and other health‑care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in patient‑and‑family‑centered care and enhance quality of life.

Qualifications

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Post‑basic specialty nursing certificate/program completion, if applicable, and three (3) years of recent related experience in the designated clinical area, including one (1) year of related administrative/supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Valid BC driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for local area travel may be required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of evidence‑informed nursing practice related to the designated clinical area.

Knowledge of other health‑care disciplines and their role in patient care.

Ability to provide leadership, supervision, work direction, and consultation.

Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work.





Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to deal effectively with clients and families, co‑workers, physicians, other health‑care staff, and external agencies.

Ability to set priorities, problem‑solve, adjust to unexpected events, and handle conflict.

Ability to lead change and support staff through transition.

Basic knowledge of research methods (ethics, question definition, qualitative and quantitative data analysis).

Ability to develop and deliver educational materials for staff, patients, clients, and families based on educational theories, principles, and best practices.

Ability to promote a supportive and creative learning workplace.

Clinical skills and use of applicable equipment and supplies, including CPR techniques.

Computer literacy to operate a computerized client‑care information system and related word‑processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
