Emerald Optometry is seeking a warm, motivated, and patient-centered Optometric Assistant to join our growing team. Responsibilities
Assist patients in the optical dispensary with eyewear selection and process glasses and contact lens orders
Support the optometrist in conducting specialized tests (retinal photos/OCT/corneal topography and axial length measurement)
Schedule appointments and manage patient flow throughout the day
Educate patients on eyewear options, lens features, coatings, and care instructions
Handle payment collection and patient checkout
Process insurance claims and verify patient information
Support general clinic administration including scheduling, recalls, referrals,
and billing
Assist with operational tasks such as fax and document management, inventory tracking, and order processing
Prepare and maintain clean and organized treatment areas
Qualifications
Background in optometry, ophthalmology, or a related allied health field is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients
Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace and handle multiple tasks
Basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records (EHR) software.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional certification or training in optometry or healthcare is a plus
Schedule
Part-time: 10–20 hours per week, must be available to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays
Additional hours available as our specialty services continue to expand
