We are looking for a collaborative and driven contract Mechanical Engineer for a heavy industry client of ours. This position will initially be offered as a 12 month contract engagement.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being close to operations, solving practical challenges, and working as part of a small, high-performing team that values collaboration and mutual respect.
Responsibilities
Develop and stamp engineering documents, work packages, and site designs.
Provide technical support for maintenance, turnaround, and CAPEX project activities.
Coordinate on feasibility studies, design improvement, and project implementation.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and reliability teams to deliver secure and efficient plant performance.
Provide advanced mechanical engineering expertise.
Implement changes in a safe and documented manner using proper Management of Change procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility upon hire.
5–10 years of experience in facility Operations, Maintenance, or Engineering.
Working knowledge of industry codes (ASME B31.1/31.3, ASME BPVC Section I/VIII, API, NACE, CSA, TSBC).
Familiarity with project management processes (PMP designation an asset, not required).
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Comfortable working independently in a field-based setting.
Good background and knowledge of industrial scale chemical processing equipment.
Robust and demonstrated adherence to health and safety policies and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and implement innovative engineered solutions.
Ability to work with multiple departments to meet company goals.
