About the Opportunity
The Galaxy Program is Direction Youth Services 2SLGBTQIA+ Program. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who support the Program Coordinator in running events, outings, and workshops for queer and trans youth.
Volunteers are seen as queer/trans role models to youth.
Responsibilities
Help with the set up and take down of events and workshops at Directions.
Support with organizing clothing donation room.
Dedicate their time, skills, and efforts to assist with various community programs and activities.
Support clients while making a positive impact in the community and support the organization in its mission, values, and commitment to compassion.
Flexible scheduling to accommodate work/life balance.
Safe and respectful work environment.
Ongoing support, mentoring, and recognition to help with engagement.
A work culture that values transparency,
teamwork, learning, fairness, and integrity.
Schedule and Commitments
Events and activities vary month to month, but activities typically run on:
Mondays 2‑4pm or Wednesdays 6‑8pm.
*Please note: Volunteers are expected to attend at least one event per month.
Education, Training, Experience
High school Diploma.
Experience working with youth (16‑24).
Harm Reduction Knowledge.
Additional Training offered for Volunteers.
Role Qualifications and Skills
Flexible.
Boundary Setting.
Additional Requirements
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
