As an Accuracy Control (AC) Engineering Student, you will support laser scanning, point cloud processing, and distortion control analysis while contributing to daily Accuracy Control initiatives that enhance design quality, production efficiency, and overall productivity. Working closely with Production Management, you will coordinate scanning activities and collect data throughout various stages of production. You will then collaborate with Accuracy Control Specialists, Welding Engineering, and Industrial Engineering teams to analyze results, validate design intent, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement through data-driven insights, gaining valuable hands-on experience with advanced engineering technologies in a dynamic shipbuilding setting.

Perform laser scanning of assemblies, structures, and components using portable metrology equipment.
Process, register, and analyze point cloud data using appropriate software tools.
Support analysis of weld-induced distortion.
Assist in developing corrective actions and design/process recommendations to reduce distortion.
Participate in day-to-day Accuracy Control activities.
Enrolled in Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent.
Exposure to metrology, dimensional control, or manufacturing processes is considered an asset.
Familiarity with CAD tools.
Experience or interest in point cloud processing or 3D data analysis.
Detail-oriented with a robust focus on accuracy and quality.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Please note this position requires a full time, in-office presence.
