Our client is an international consulting firm that is hiring for a Mechanical Designer in Ottawa. They support project portfolios for federal government, commercial, institutional, labs, and light industrial clients. Designing and engineering mechanical building systems for new and existing buildings. They are a premium-positioned firm with a growing footprint in the Ottawa area.

The Mechanical Designer is hybrid based in Ottawa. This position requires security clearance, as this role will be supporting government projects.

Salary: $80 000 to $105 000

Office Policy: Hybrid

(Must be local to Ottawa for site and client visits in the local area)

Responsibilities

Carry out mechanical building systems design and engineering projects for multiple sectors (government, commercial, institutional, labs, and light industrial)

Detailed design, coordination, verification and design of various mechanical building systems projects

Ensure client satisfaction throughout projects





Survey existing installations in the Ottawa area

Analyze, design and adapt building-related installations

Interdisciplinary coordination with external professionals

Write specifications and technical reports

Provide assistance in regards to site supervision

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering.

3-7+ years of experience in a consulting firm with building projects.

Solid knowledge of Ontario/Canadian building codes, construction practices, and permitting processes.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

High attention to detail and robust commitment to quality.
