Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
Provide exceptional customer service
Work and manage workloads independently
Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork and electronic documentation, including updating work orders in company systems
Track work‑in‑process (WIP), labor time, and job status using digital tools
Follow company digital workflows and maintain accurate electronic service records
Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
Perform other duties as assigned
Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance, including being ready for work at the designated start time
Qualifications
Fluent in French – written and spoken (mandatory)
Two years of previous mechanical repair experience in forklift, auto, diesel, agricultural or heavy equipment repair
Previous field experience is highly preferable
Excellent mechanical aptitude
Own personal tools
Clean driving record and valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle
Interpersonal skills
Basic computer proficiency, including daily use of a laptop
Ability to enter and update work orders in a computerized system
Comfortable using web‑based systems, email, and standard office tools
Language Skills – Intermediate: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence
Reasoning Ability – Intermediate: Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands regularly; talk/hear frequently; sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally
Bend frequently and work from a prone position (lying down while working underneath equipment) is required
No special vision requirements
Lift to 10 pounds regularly; lift 11 to 25 pounds frequently
Work near moving mechanical parts frequently; frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally wet or humid conditions (non-weather), extreme cold and heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock, vibration
